Welcome Dr. Shashank Garg!

Interventional Endoscopy Associates is pround to announce the addition Dr. Shashank Garg to our practice! He will begin seeing patients October 1st, 2024 and will provide care at all of our locations. 

 

Dr. Garg is a board-certified gastroenterologist who received his medical degree from University College of Medical Sciences, Delhi, India. He moved to the United States in 2011 for further training. He completed his Internal Medicine residency at Sinai Hospital of Baltimore and Gastroenterology fellowship at University of Kentucky. During that time, he also completed a master’s in clinical and translational science. He then moved to Arkansas and worked as a general gastroenterologist for 6 years. For the first four years, he was at University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences as an Assistant Professor of Medicine. During this time, he was the director of GI clinic and quality officer for the department of Gastroenterology. He also served on committees for American College of Gastroenterology and American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy. He then worked as a consultant gastroenterologist at Arkansas Gastroenterology for two years.

Dr Garg’s passion and commitment towards therapeutic endoscopy led him to pursue interventional endoscopy fellowship at Moffitt Cancer Center and University of South Florida. Under the mentorship of Dr Shaffer Mok and other seven other faculty members, Dr Garg graduated from his interventional endoscopy fellowship with over 1000 procedures while achieving proficiency in ERCP, diagnostic and interventional EUS, endoscopic mucosal resection, endoscopic suturing and various other luminal therapeutics.

Dr Garg is the newest member of the Interventional Endoscopy Associates and together with Dr Pitea and Dr Mounzer, he will continue to provide high quality care in gastroenterology by offering complex, cutting-edge endoscopic interventions to the population of Arizona.

Dr. Garg has published multiple abstracts and peer-reviewed publications in esteemed journals. He is a diplomat of the American Board of Gastroenterology.

Melinda Gutierrez, PA-C Melinda graduated in 2010 with her Masters of Medical Science in Physician Assistant Studies from Midwestern University in Glendale, AZ. She has practiced in the field of Interventional Endoscopy since 2017. Prior to joining our team, she practiced in the field of Cardiovascular Disease for seven years. Melinda has a passion for serving our senior population and deeply believes in the importance of patient education so that each of our patients can play an integral role in their own care. She is an Arizona native who enjoys spending time with her family, hiking and is an avid fan of Indycar racing.
